How you will make an impact:
Fisher BioServices, by Thermo Fisher Scientific, is a Life Science specialty logistics provider. Our focus has been providing biorepository storage and distribution services since 1986. We store biological research and therapeutic materials at controlled room temperature, refrigerated, frozen, ultra-low, and cryogenic, as well as at customized temperatures. We also ship and transport research materials at these temperatures, including onboard temperature monitoring. We are the industry leaders in the management and distribution of materials at cryogenic temperatures and can manage cryogenically frozen therapies from the manufacturer to the patient bedside. We provide the highest level of leadership and best practices for handling materials at ultra-low temperatures.
What you will do:
As a member of the accounting team, this individual will facilitate general ledger month-end close including preparation of journal entries in accordance with company policy and GAAP; reconcile inter-company accounts and bank accounts; facilitate monthly reconciliations and analyses of general ledger asset and liability accounts; calculate and track rebates; prepare returns state sales and use tax returns as required; prepare accounts receivable detailed aging for review; and work on special projects incorporating research/analysis as requested.
A Day in the Life:
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
- Performs accurate and timely monthly close activities, including accrual and other journal entries, intercompany reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and other account reconciliations and roll forwards
- Prepares financial reports to analyze revenues, costs, expenses, transactions, and trends related to financial performance
- Provides reports to management to support financial reporting activities
- Performs account analysis and reconciliation of the general ledger accounts and transactions
- Prepare for and actively participate in internal and external audits both internationally and domestic
- Prepares tax returns for multiple domestic and international jurisdictions, maintaining appropriate supporting documentation
- Monitors, researches and supports taxation issues
- Assist in the preparation of internal and external reporting packages, taking advantage of opportunities to enhance usefulness and efficiency
- Maintains fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
- Works closely across all of finance and with other business departments
- Provides coverage (backup) to support other accounting and finance duties when necessary
- Manages Intercompany balancing and reconciliation each close period
- Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline required
- Master's degree with a concentration in accounting or finance or CPA preferred
- Ideally 3 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- MS Office 365 with advanced knowledge of Excel
- International tax experience (a plus)
- Government contract experience
- Experienced with accounting systems (CODA, Oracle, experience a plus)
Travel requirements:
Less than 10% domestic/international travel required.
