Job Description

Job Overview Accounting Controller will perform accounting operations and prepare and compile necessary financial reports for Heavy Civil General Contracting. The Accounting Controller will implement internal controls that ensure that the company is compliant with current accounting practices and will coordinate with accounting audits. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare and analyze financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements), ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations like GAAP. Ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and interpret financial information. • Develop and manage budgets, forecast financial performance, and identify variances. • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and taxes. • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud. • Ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements. • Supervise and managing accounting staff, providing guidance, and fostering professional development. • Contribute to financial planning and strategy, providing insights and recommendations to senior management. • Coordinate and manage both internal and external audits. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and a CPA license is preferred. • Experience with accounting requirements for a heavy civil general contracting company • In-depth understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS), and relevant regulations. • Experience managing and motivating accounting teams, providing guidance and mentorship. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders. • Ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues and analyze financial data. • Proficiency in accounting software and other relevant technologies. • Several years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with experience in a senior or management role.
