Job Description
Medica is a non-profit health insurance company headquartered in Minnetonka with offices in Madison, Duluth, St. Cloud, Fargo and Omaha. Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grant-making work of the Medica Foundation and through active employee giving and volunteer programs.
Medica will host a hybrid, 12-week, paid Internship Program. Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns through weekly Lunch-and-Learns and opportunities to hear from Executives. We strive to offer a well-rounded education of the inner workings of a health plan. Each internship offers a meaningful experience and impactful projects you'll be able to discuss with future employers. At Medica, we look forward to our Summer Internship Program each year.
We're looking for an intern willing to assist in all things 1099s, reconciliations, TIN matching, and preparing the file for year-end. This summer internship would also include working with Accounts Payable to update W9s in the master file, send out unclaimed property letters, organization of payments/filings, and sending monthly transactions.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, or pursuing a Master's degree with a Bachelor's in any of the above.
- Previous health plan or health care related experience is helpful, but not required.
Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of financial statements and financial reporting.
- Development experience in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, intellectual curiosity and a professional demeanor, high drive to learn and willingness to be persistent in solving challenging problems.
- Aptitude to develop business and technical acumen.
This position is an office role, which requires an employee to work from the designated office Minnetonka, MN on average, 2+ times per week.
