We are looking for a seasoned Accounting Manager to join the Zions team. The position will offer a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Ideal candidates will have the skills and experience necessary to:

  • Coordinate and manage the general accounting reconciliation and certification function, concerning primarily the accuracy and resolution of aging outstanding items.
  • Understand the processes driving the accounting activity in the general ledger and the resultant impact to financial statements.
  • Review reconciliations to ensure they are prepared properly and follow-up on any unusual items.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Assist and direct other business units with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Participate and act in consultative role in complex general accounting projects and system implementations.
  • Perform and assist with internal and external audits.
  • Participate in long-term strategic planning initiatives and objectives related to reconciliation standardization, centralization and automation.
  • Lead in-depth review of reconciliations performed across the organization to identify areas of potential risk and provide business units guidance on remediation and implementation of best practice procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation and accounting processes and formulate proposals, procedures and/or processes and partners with operations and accounting to implement.
  • Interacts with upper management in the design and development of department and/or company policies and procedures.
  • Influence and impact the decisions of upper management.
  • Serves as a spokesperson in professional field of expertise.
  • Directly supervise the accounting staff.
  • Directs departmental projects and accomplishes results through lower-level supervisor and cross-functional team members.
  • Utilizes extensive interpersonal skills in motivating team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field
  • 6+ yrs experience in accounting and/or finance (CPA preferred but not required).
  • Supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of general bank accounting including reconciliations, general ledgers, etc.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with both management and staff employees exercising good judgement in choosing appropriate communication channels.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to prioritize schedule based on deliverables, goals and timelines to meet commitments on time.
  • Must be flexible and able to handle change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analysis, problem resolution and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong sense of urgency and efficiency.
  • Ability to develop and manage people.
  • Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.
  • Ability to function in a consultative role and manage a team or project.
  • A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.
