Summary

The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups.

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National to apply for this position.
  • Selective Service: Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov/).

  • You must successfully pass a background investigation. This may include a credit check, a review of financial issues, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying:

To qualify at the GS-7 level, you mustpossess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal government (obtained in the public or private sector) performing, at minimum, three (3) of the four (4) following duties:
  1. Providing technical assistance or processing support to human resources activities/actions.
  2. Participating in the preparation and/or review of budget activities.
  3. Assisting with conducting property inventory and/or maintaining property records.
  4. Using electronic databases to produce and/or track documents.
Typing Proficiency: To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
