New York Life's AI and Data team delivers innovative data, insights, and AI solutions for the organization. Our AI team works on a diverse portfolio of AI and GenAI projects, by combining agile and entrepreneurial drive with industry-leading methods and tools. Our efforts are fully supported by executive leadership, and we work hand in hand with our Business Partners through all stages of model development from ideation to deployment. As it takes multiple skill sets to deliver AI models to production, our AI team includes product managers, data scientists, MLOps engineers, program managers, a model validation & governance group, and a communications & development group.

You will work with the Lead AI Architect on all technical aspects of solution delivery, including defining the target state architecture of data science/AI solutions. You will be the tip of the spear when it comes to learning and implementing state-of-the-art AI solutions, using the gained knowledge to set standards and create patterns to software engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the technical architecture/roadmap of AI/ML solutions
• Expertise in developing solution architectures that integrate ML models into real-world systems.
• Hands-on prototyping of new technology and AI solutions
• Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of people, including business, data scientists, MLOps engineers, and Technology partners.
• Be able to step in and provide technical expertise at any point in the project.
• Review code to ensure solutions are properly designed and implemented.
• Stay up to date with the latest AI trends/emerging technologies and look for opportunities to improve the stack.
• Current understanding of LLMs and their use
• Build strong relationships with Enterprise Architecture to ensure our solutions meet Tech constraints.
• Effectively articulate information and ideas to a diverse group of people

Required qualifications.

• 7+ years of experience in Solution Architecture or Lead Software Engineering position with at least 2-years hands on with AI/ML
• Ability to define target state technology architecture and roadmaps.
• Passionate about technology transformations, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Expert in Python, including experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
• Experience with advanced natural language processing (NLP) techniques and tools, such as SpaCy, NLTK, or Hugging Face
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
• Experience with big data platforms such as Redshift, Snowflake and Hadoop
• Expert with cloud compute environments (AWS) along with cloud-native tools
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology and best practices
• Graduate-level degree in computer science, engineering, or relevant work experience

Preferred:

• Previous work experience with Generative AI
• Understanding of use and implementation of Vector Databases
• Insurance industry experience

Salary range: $132,500-$197,500

Overtime eligible: Exempt
