What you'll be doing:
We are seeking a skilled and adaptableAI Solutions Architectto help design and deliver innovative, production-ready AI/ML solutions that solve real-world problems for federal partners. This person will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and stakeholder teams to uncover challenges, shape technical strategies, and implement scalable, secure AI systems. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience in machine learning and software development, communicates clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, and thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role where you’ll define Oddball’s AI technical vision, support growth and sales efforts, and guide small teams through agile experimentation and delivery cycles.
What you’ll bring:
• 7+ years of experience in software development, data science, or applied machine learning
• Ability toanalyze complex systems, identify problem areas, anddesign AI-powered solutionsthat align with user needs and agency missions
• Strong knowledge ofLLM architectures(e.g.,BERT,RAG,GPT) and ability to explain them to non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity withcloud-native AI stacksonAWS,Azure, orGCPand comfort designing scalable, secure ML workflows
• Hands-on experience with tools likePython,TensorFlow,PyTorch,Hugging Face, or similar ML frameworks
• Practical understanding of vector search, embeddings, knowledge graphs, andRetrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)pipelines
• Proficiency usingAI-assisted development tools(e.g.,GitHub Copilot) to rapidly iterate and ship prototypes
• Ability tolead and mentora small team of engineers to deliverquick-turn solutionsandPoCs
• Clear, confident communication and presentation skills — includinglive solution demoswith federal stakeholders
• Experience working across product, design, and business teams to shape AI-powered features and services
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Bonus if you have:
• Understanding ofresponsible AI principles, including fairness, explainability, and secure handling of PII/PHI
• Experience withAWS serviceslikeBedrock,Comprehend,Lex, orAzure equivalents
• Familiarity withAI/ML applicationsin federal health, veterans’ services, or modernization initiatives
• Past involvement in business development, innovation labs, or early-stage solution architecture
Location:Candidates located in theDMV area (DC, Maryland, Virginia)are strongly preferred due to occasional in-person collaboration opportunities.
Requirements:
• Must be a US Citizen and able to work domestically
• Must be able to attain low-level security clearance
Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field. Ph.D. in a relevant field or equivalent experience is a plus.

Compensation:
At Oddball, it’s important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly. In alignment with state legal requirements. A range for the included position is listed below. Be advised, actual offer details are determined by job category, job location, and candidate skill level.
United States Wage Range: $140,000 – $180,000
