Job Description
About Clear Street:
Clear Street is building financial infrastructure for today’s institutions. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is an independent, non-bank prime broker replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets.Â
We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Clear Street’s proprietary prime brokerage platform adds significant efficiency to the market, while focusing on minimizing risk and cost for clients. Our goal is to create a single source-of-truth platform for every asset class, in every country, and in any currency.
By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.
The Role:
We are looking for an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance professional who will report to the AML Compliance Officer. In this role, you will assist with administering the Firm’s AML Compliance Program with a focus on identification and mitigation of AML risk, enhancing and administering the Firm’s sanctions compliance program, conducting AML investigations and managing suspicious activity reporting. This role will have both AML and sanctions responsibilities. Â
- You will provide guidance and direction to business unit management and cross-functional teams regarding AML requirements and in support of business objectives and global expansion
- Work closely with cross functional stakeholders to identify, review and opine on AML and sanctions related risks
- Review changes to AML/CFT/sanctions-related laws, regulations, guidance, or regulatory expectations to help ensure that Clear Street implements processes to remain in full compliance with its global regulatory obligations related to AML and sanctions
- Conduct training and address questions related to AML and sanctions
- Keep up to date with regulatory developments and issues in economic sanctions
- Continuously monitor and proactively develop initiatives to better manage sanctions risk
- Conduct AML investigations and oversee suspicious activity reporting
The Team:
The Compliance team provides support for a multi-asset class prime broker that supports active traders and institutional accounts built on a technologically advanced proprietary platform. The team thrives in working in a fast-paced environment with constantly evolving business opportunities. Regulatory compliance is a key metric by which Clear Street's client's, counterparties, banks, debt holders and investors assess Clear Street's risk. A strong regulatory compliance team focused on building strong relationships with regulators allows Clear Street to expand quickly and to avoid regulatory fines and undertakings.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of AML experience at a broker-dealer, preferably experience with prime brokerage operations;
- A strong understanding of BSA/USA PATRIOT Act, CDD/EDD, AML transaction monitoring, sanctions/OFAC and Suspicious Activity Reporting.
- Ability to identify areas of inefficiency and suggest enhancements that can make processes faster and more reliable
- Comfortable working amidst high ambiguity, adapting to changing priorities, and executing on complex projects
- Adept at issue spotting and designing effective remediation solutions
- Ability to work independently and to manage multiple deadlines
We Offer:
The Base Salary Range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000.. This range is representative of the starting base salaries for this role at Clear Street. Where a candidate falls in this range will be based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, and location. This range represents Base Salary only, which is just one element of Clear Street's total compensation. The range stated does not include other factors of total compensation such as bonuses or equity.
At Clear Street, we offer competitive compensation packages, company equity, 401k matching, gender-neutral parental leave, and full medical, dental and vision insurance. Our belief has always been that we are better as a business when we are all together in person. As such, beginning on January 2, 2023, we are requiring employees to be in the office 4 days per week. In-office benefits include lunch stipends, fully stocked kitchens, happy hours, a great location, and amazing views.
Our top priority is our people. We’re continuously investing in a culture that promotes collaboration. We help each other through challenges and celebrate each other's successes. We believe that modern workplaces succeed by virtue of having high-performance workforces that are diverse — in ideas, cultures, and experiences. We put in the effort to make such a workplace a daily reality and are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. #LI-Hybrid
