Android Developer (Hybrid)

Allego is looking for a mid-level Android software engineer to assist in the continued development of the Android app version of our flagship product working in a hybrid work environment (1-2 days per month) in our Waltham, MA office preferred but not required. The primary focus of this role will be to work in an agile team to implement new features of the product. In addition to being a strong developer, written and verbal communication skills are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, implement, and unit test new Android product features using Agile tools and processes, including design and code reviews
• Take ownership of Android deliverables: be a resource for the completion of development sprints, track progress, and assist in creating target dates for deliverables
• Diagnose and fix bugs and other performance issues
• Collaborate with Team Lead, PM, and Cloud, Web, iOS and QA teams on designs, feature requirements, and testing strategies

Requirements

• Strong code writing skills: you must write code that is well designed, well structured, readable, and self-commenting
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
• Self-Motivated and able to work efficiently remotely
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and experience with the challenges of coding for a diverse set of devices
• Proficiency in both Java and Kotlin
• Fluent understanding of Git
• Strong knowledge of Android design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Experience working with and debugging large multi-threaded applications
• Ability to benchmark and performance tune Android applications
• Knowledge of the following: RxJava 2, Gson, Dagger2, OkHttp, Espresso, Robolectric, Robotium. Experience with offline storage, SQLite, and Junit TDD experience a plus
