Great opportunity working on a passionate team in Lafayette, IN! The Application Engineering Expert will play a pivotal role in accomplishing ZF's zero emission goal. The position will actively be working with the research and development of cutting-edge steering technologies that will contribute to pushing eMobility forward within the Commercial Vehicle division. We are looking for a creative, talented and self-starting application engineer with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Act as technical adviser to the rest of the application team
• Understand EPS (Electric Power Steering) controls and tuning parameters necessary to achieve performance targets as well as customer vehicle performance metrics and targets - both objective and subjective
• Demonstrate advanced understanding of system/software function and application for assigned calibration development.
• Contribute to the development of new steering feel and tuning algorithms, evaluate and tune vehicle steering characteristics, and develop calibrations at a system HiL bench and vehicle level
• Communicate customer design direction and changes to the ZF engineering team, including program management, system engineering, quality, and sales.
• Advance the development of EPS calibrations prior to vehicle prototype through virtual & bench tools.
• Effectively integrate all aspects of a design through the use of multi-disciplinary engineering, diagnose and correct deficiencies in designs and prototypes, and assist in system testing and verification activities
• Identify system findings and communicates details to System, mechanical or Software Engineering in a concise and organized manner.
• Oversee Steering programs execution process to meet timing, budget, technical performance, and product quality requirements.
• Understand and work within the parameters of ASPICE process
• Work with aftermarket team to come up with aftermarket support

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Master's preferred) and 12+ years of controls/system engineering
• Automotive/Commercial vehicle experience preferred
• Vehicle Calibration Tools, Example Vector
• Good understanding of vehicle communication networks (CAN,CAN-FD, Ethernet),
• General knowledge of automotive standards (J1939, UDS) preferred
• Experience with automotive tools (Vector, PEAK, etc) and Mathworks, Matlab, Simulink a plus
• DOOR experience is plus
