Job Description and Responsibilities

We are currently hiring full-time and part-time Armed Security Officers for multiple locations. An Armed Security Officer may perform a multitude of duties as specified by the Post Orders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Armed Security Officer will read and become extremely knowledgeable of Post Orders and SOP, and will be able to act quickly and efficiently according to such directives. Armed Officers must commit to maintaining security registrations (if applicable) to include any mandated training. In addition, officer must commit to completing quarterly inspections and range time as per company policy. A minimum of 85% shooting accuracy is required, unless otherwise indicated by jurisdictional law.
Pay:$21.00 – $24.21/hr (based on qualifications & site placement)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Patrol and Property Monitoring Duties
• Periodically patrols buildings, facilities, grounds, and work sites as defined by Post Orders and SOP in order to complete the following duties:
Monitor Systems and Safety Hazards
• Patrol premises to identify safety and fire hazards, to ensure all safety and fire prevention equipment is operational or appears to be operational.
• Monitor and adjust controls that regulate building systems, such as air conditioning, furnace, or boiler, as required by Post Orders or SOP.
• Watch for and report conditions that could result in injury or loss due to, leaking pipes, chemical spills, faulty equipment, etc.
• Monitor incoming packages, vehicles, and personnel to prevent safety hazards such as weapons, bombs, or explosives coming onto the site.
• Set security alarms, answer alarms, and investigate disturbances as required by Post Orders or SOP.
• Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering as required by Post Orders or SOP.
Theft, Violence and Vandalism Deterrence
• Monitor the site to protect against vandalism, theft, and illegal entry.
• Monitor departing personnel, visitors, and/or packages to prevent theft of company property.
• Inspect equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
Activity and Entry/Exit Monitoring
• Examine doors, windows, gates, and other possible means of entrance to ensure they are locked and secure and to detect signs of intrusion or tampering.
• Monitor and record entry and exiting of visitors; may provide site check-in for visitors, staff, trucks, and deliveries, etc.
• Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent the passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
• Check personnel for proper identification and clearance in order to permit only authorized people to enter the facility; may operate check-in desk or monitor via the guard house at gate entrances.
• Observe parking lots and departing personnel to prevent robberies or vandalism
Preservation of Order and Rule Compliance:
• Preserves order and enforces security regulations.
• Warns, apprehends, reports, and/or expels violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, according to Post Orders.
• Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
• Warn persons of rule infractions or violations and contact the proper authorities when necessary.
Emergency or First Response:
• Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
• Act as first responder in case of emergencies, including fire, illness or injury to other persons, theft or vandalism, as required by Post Orders or SOP.
NOTE: All responses and actions will adhere to Sunstates Security’s policy regarding “Use of Force and Firearms Policies” and acceptable uses of force to accomplish lawful objectives, as outlined in Post Orders and SOP.
Reporting/Documentation Duties
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Check in and out company visitors or personnel, verifying the reason for being there, and to verify that intruders are unable to enter.
• Responsible for documenting lost or missing items, maintaining key logs, completing accident reports, and other reports as required.
• On a quarterly basis, Armed Security Officers must complete weapons inspections and range time. A minimum of 85% shooting accuracy is required, unless otherwise indicated by jurisdictional law.
Other
• May perform reception duties to greet and check in visitors, operate the switchboard, and answer telephone calls during or after hours, take messages, answer questions as required by Post Orders and SOP, and provide general information during non-business hours or when the switchboard is closed.
• Officer may be required to perform duties in a military style uniform according to Sunstates' policies. Some positions may require a different style of uniform. Dress code according to Post Orders or SOP must be followed.
• Will patrol site(s) on foot and/or may use vehicles. May use video surveillance equipment and other methods to signal the presence of intruders, as required by Post Orders or SOP.
Job Requirements
Must be at least 21 years of age, meet state licensing requirements for armed security, and pass all background/drug screenings.
