Position Summary
We are an established business seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Artisan Sandwich Maker (Sous Chef) to join our culinary team to build a new business section. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in crafting high-quality, visually appealing, and delicious sandwiches using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of food preparation, flavor pairings, and presentation, and works well in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of gourmet and specialty sandwiches according to company recipes and standards
- Utilize locally sourced breads, meats, cheeses, and produce to create fresh and flavorful sandwiches
- Slice, prep, and portion ingredients for efficient sandwich assembly
- Maintain clean and organized prep and workstations in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assist with menu development and daily specials by contributing creative sandwich ideas
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented with consistency, quality, and speed
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management
- Supervise and collaborate with kitchen team members to support overall service operations
- Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with guests (if customer-facing)
Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness protocols
Qualifications
Proven experience in a food preparation role, preferably in a sandwich shop, deli, or café
Strong knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipments
Basic math skills for inventory management, sales tracking and ingredient ordering
Passion for quality ingredients, culinary craftsmanship, and local food culture
Excellent time management and multitasking skills
Flexible on schedule to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and commitment to continuous improvement
Additional Highly-Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Pacific Northwest ingredients and seasonal produce
- Experience with menu development or food styling/presentation
- Background in artisanal or farm-to-table kitchen environments
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
