Assistant Chief of Dental Service

The Southeast Louisiana VA Health Care System in New Orleans, LA, is seeking a full-time Dentist to serve as its Assistant Chief of Dental Service.  Situated along the bank of the Mississippi River in Southern Louisiana, New Orleans, also widely known as ‘NOLA’, was dubbed as “The Big Easy”, for its unparalleled nightlife, diverse music scene and unyielding City spirit. Over time, New Orleans’ tourism industry continues to thrive as the city that receives unwavering support from its residents and visitors alike.  Candidate must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and exceptional health of our veterans.  The Southeast Louisiana VA Medical Center is fully dedicated to providing top-quality medical care by serving and honoring America’s Veterans.    

Highlights of this position include:

• Competitive Starting Salary $210,000-$265,000
• Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7:30am-4:00pm (other times as required)
• Direct patient care with the balance as administrative (approx. 75-80% Clinical duties)
• Perform specific duties within his/her approved scope of practice
• Provide dental screenings, cleanings, X-rays, and fillings
• Candidate will also provide specialty dental procedures like periodontal care removable and fixed prosthetics including implant restoration
• Conducting performance appraisals
• Responsible for overseeing dental provider's clinic coverage at local service level
• Orienting and providing in-service training and education of all persons in the Service in collaboration with staff of other services

Additional Requirements:

• Postgraduate dental education
• 5-10 years of dental practice recommended
• Supervisorial experience is advised
• Prefer VA dental service experience
• Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not found
• Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State
