Job Description

Position Purpose

The Assistant Editor of Media is highly driven and excited to grow with our company. The AE is self-motivated, able to work independently and under close direction.


Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities

The Assistant Editor is comfortable working under tight deadlines, and has the ability to wear many hats. The AE is detail oriented with a passion for keeping work organized. Must be flexible in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment with their schedule and time. Must be able to assist in the day to day media and file management of various editorial projects as well as offering basic IT support when issues occur with Hardware and software. Responsible to maintain and implement updates to hardware and software in close collaboration with our IT department. Responsible to ensure that edit bays are updated and operating at optional performance in compliance with our security requirements.
Competencies

  • Media Management: Ingesting, organizing, preparing, exporting, delivering and archiving media/projects and other tasks related to Post Production
  • Post-Production Workflow: Strong understanding of post-production workflows, including string-out creation, element assembly, and software proficiency.
  • Editing Software: Strong understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro with the ability to learn and adapt to other editing platforms (e.g., Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
  • Attention to Detail: Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and capable of multi-tasking with a keen eye for accuracy and quality control.
  • Teamwork: collaborative and team-oriented -- be trustworthy, positive, open, and helpful -- able to demonstrate a perpetual willingness to jump in and assist with any problem.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma/ GED equivalent
  • At least 1-2 years professional experience, preferably in media-related field
  • Understanding of media management principles such as editorial or post production experience
  • Must be detail oriented, and have a passion for keeping work organized.
  • Must have strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite and familiarity with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Davinci Resolve and Final Cut)
  • Familiarity of finishing and broadcast mastering
  • Familiarity with special effects, Green screen keying, 3D and compositing
  • Familiar with production shoots and camera technology
  • Familiar with assisting on multi-screen large media installations
  • Ability to work full time, on-site in the LA Office.
