Job Description
The Associate Photographer is an on-site, in-house role that supports Dotdash Meredith's branded commerce photography across all of our editorial categories and brands. Each day will be different: one day you may be shooting and styling curtains and cat food bowls; the next day, you will pivot to tote bags and leggings. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, organized individual with proven professional shooting experience, who is proficient in the latest camera technologies and photography softwares.
This role reports to the Associate Creative Director and is required to be onsite. Candidates must be able to commute daily to Dotdash Meredith's office in Birmingham, Alabama or Des Moines, Iowa.
About the Role:

• Take the brief to understand specifications and work closely with stakeholders to develop the concept
• Work with the Associate Creative Director and Production Director to concept and execute shoots while staying on schedule.
• Must be able to adhere to style guides and should be comfortable producing a natural aesthetic that doesn't look too commercial or overly produced.
• Be able to prop style and arrange products, props, photo sets, studio lighting and backgrounds, that adhere to photo guideline specifications
• Constantly improve image quality using various editing methods
• Use and maintain modern and traditional technical equipment (cameras, lenses etc)
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of photographic best practices and procedures
• Working with your production leadership, act as your own project manager to organize and execute your shoots

About You:

• 5 years of proven professional, soft goods shooting and styling experience
• Expertise with soft good styling and silo product photography
• Proficient using Adobe Photoshop, Capture One, Airtable, and additional photography specific software
• Must have in-depth understanding of lighting people and products, and be able to use strobe lighting to replicate natural daylight if necessary, including documented lighting schematics, and when necessary standardized camera placement, to insure consistency
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and maintain flexibility
• Photography degree or similar preferred
