Job Description
As a Test Specialist at IBM your analytical and technical skills will directly impact the quality of the software we create. Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM Client Innovation Centre (CIC): Nova Scotia occupies a unique position in the IT marketplace – at the intersection of business and technology.
In this role you’ll work in our IBM Client Innovation Center (CIC) where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world.​ These delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
As a member of our team you will help IBM clients solve some of their most challenging business problems capitalize on market opportunities and achieve real value in today’s tough economy.

Candidates must:
- Have graduated no earlier than 2022 and will be graduating no later than 2024
- Have an Associate’s Degree College Diploma Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree by date of employment
- Exception: This program does not accept MBA or PhD candidates/graduates
- Have no more than 2 years of full-time professional related work experience
- Be eligible to work in Canada without current or future needs for visa sponsorship
- ​​​​​​​Be willing and able to live and work in Nova Scotia with minimal travel anticipated
Software Testers work closely with our development teams on to ensure the functionality of what’s been created and to ensure it aligns with the client specifications they may also be connecting with the client to ensure functional specifications are being implemented through technical requirements.

iGNITE Tester Roles & Responsibilities:
- You will track defects by identifying any bugs in the software and problem solve to make sure it is resolved successfully using JIRA – a software testing management tool
- You’ll build and manage testing environments assisting in debugging application issues.
- You will cross reference data by looking at databases & repository to evaluate and understand user interface documents
- You will translate requirements from the client into manual or automated test scripts
- You will complete the ISTQB testing training and exam certification during your first year at IBM: https://www.istqb.org/
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- You have the ability to work in an Agile collaborative environment to understand requirements design code and test innovative applications and support those applications for our highly valued customers
- You are great at solving problems debugging troubleshooting designing and implementing solutions to complex technical issues
- You have experience coding and using databases
- You have basic knowledge or hands on coding experience in one or more of the following technology areas: C++ C Java JavaScript Angular React Python SQL ASP .NET
- You have basic knowledge or hands on experience using one or more of the following frameworks/libraries: Spring/Spring Boot Angular React
- You have an excellent understanding of the software development life cycle and software testing
- Any exposure to performance or automation tools like Selenium is an asset
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Must be eligible for clearance and have lived in Canada for 5 – 10 years
