AUDITOR (TITLE 5)

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: MUST have a degree in accounting, auditing; or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting? (The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.) You must provide copies of your official transcripts to support your educational claims at the time of application.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess the knowledge, training or experience in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; skill in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material; ability to comprehend and/or apply problem solving and negotiating techniques; skill in presenting formal training presentations and briefings; and the ability to prepare reports and presentation formats.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11 Level - MUST possess the experience, education or training which includes at least 1 year at the lower-level GS-09 in the Federal service in the normal line of progression for the occupation, Auditor. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: conduct in-depth research and analysis in the coordination and resolution of problems; utilize professional accounting and auditing knowledge, provides recommendations in the solution of accounting and operational problems and implementation of new or changed regulations, procedures and analyses of automated systems; review automated accounting and financial systems and identifies the need for changes to enhance system capability to track and report financial reports and operational data used by local management.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
