As we expand our cloud infrastructure to support critical healthcare applications, including Epic EHR systems, we seek a skilled Enterprise Cloud Engineer specializing in Azure. Position Summary We are seeking a skilled Azure / Windows Systems Administrator with healthcare industry experience to join our team. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in Azure infrastructure management with practical knowledge of healthcare IT environments. You should understand the unique challenges of supporting healthcare systems, including compliance requirements like HIPAA and the workflows of clinical applications. Your primary responsibility will be configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Azure environments to ensure security, reliability, and performance. While we're looking for someone who has worked in healthcare settings and understands the industry context, your technical proficiency in Azure services, system administration, and infrastructure automation remains the most critical qualification. This role requires someone who can apply their technical Azure expertise within the specific constraints and requirements of healthcare IT, ensuring our cloud infrastructure supports the delivery of essential healthcare services and protects sensitive patient information. This position is heavily focused on Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, with strong emphasis on creating ultra-modular, factory-pattern configurations.You will be responsible for designing and implementing sophisticated Terraform modules that enable scalable, repeatable infrastructure deployments across our Azure estate. The ideal candidate has deep Terraform expertise, understands how to integrate Terraform workflows within CI/CD pipelines, and is passionate about automation, operational efficiency, and modern cloud engineering practices. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement highly modular, factory-pattern Terraform configurationsfor scalable infrastructure provisioning • Develop reusable Terraform modules with emphasis on standardization, composability, and DRY principles • Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines, integrating Terraform workflows into CI/CD systems • Create Python scripts for data transformation and pre-processing tasks that feed into Terraform configurations • Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient Azure cloud architectures for healthcare applications, focusing on high availability, disaster recovery, and compliance • Integrate cloud infrastructure with healthcare IT systems, including EHR platforms, clinical applications, and interface engines • Implement Azure-native security including Key Vault, Defender for Cloud, encryption, and endpoint protection • Monitor and optimize performance of VMs, storage, and network throughput • Track and manage cost efficiencies using reserved instances and resource rightsizing • Lead Azure migrations for healthcare applications, ensuring minimal disruption to operations • Deploy and maintain monitoring solutions using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights • Partner with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure with application lifecycles • Document infrastructure standards and deployment procedures in compliance with healthcare requirements Minimum Qualifications • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with Terraform, including: • Writing complex, modular Terraform configurations using factory patterns • Managing Terraform state and workspaces in production environments • Integrating Terraform into CI/CD pipelines • Deep understanding of Terraform best practices and patterns • Minimum 3 years designing and implementing highly available Azure applications • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD preferred, but Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins experience acceptable) • General proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation • Hands-on experience managing hybrid Windows environments including Active Directory and secure connectivity • Azure Administrator Associate or Solutions Architect Associate certification • Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare-specific compliance standards • Strong understanding of cloud security best practices • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills • A patient-first mindset with a focus on system reliability and security Preferred Qualifications • Python programming skills for infrastructure automation and data transformation tasks • Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows • Advanced Terraform expertise including custom providers and complex module composition • Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent advanced certifications • Experience with EHRs and healthcare clinical systems • Proficiency with Azure networking, ExpressRoute, and Virtual WAN • Hands-on Azure Landing Zone implementation experience • Expertise in Azure Application Gateway and Load Balancer configurations • Experience architecting hybrid cloud environments using ExpressRoute Why Join Us: • Mission-Driven Work:Contribute to a project that is central to transforming healthcare delivery by building and managing cloud infrastructure that supports life-saving applications. • Cutting-Edge Technology:Work with the latest Azure services and cloud technologies, playing a key role in shaping the IT infrastructure of a leading healthcare provider. • Professional Growth:Opportunities for continuous learning and career advancement in a company that values technical excellence and innovation. • Collaborative Culture:Join a team that values collaboration, accountability, and a shared commitment to revolutionizing healthcare.
