Pay Range: $65,000-$70,000 Annually. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
Hankey Investment Company is looking for a Benefits Staff Accountant to join our Human Resources team. As a Benefits Staff Accountant you will interact with Hankey Group of Companies executives, managers, employees, and its vendors. This position will be responsible for reconciling GL accounts relating to employee benefits and human resource expenditures. We're looking for someone who is a dedicated team player, skilled at prioritizing and multitasking.
What’s the role?
As a Benefits Staff Accountant you will be responsible for ensuring employees are offered and enrolled accurately in group health plans, meet eligibility requirements under PPACA, ERISA and Hankey Group Defined Contribution Plans. Comply with all deadlines and protocols outlined in the company's and HR's policies and procedures. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions. You will form part of a team with a friendly but fast-paced environment.
This is a full-time role in which you’ll report to the VP of Human Resources. You must be willing to work onsite at the Los Angeles Corporate office.
What you’ll do as a Benefits Staff Accountant?
• Provide monthly analytical headcount reports to employers, annual ACA filing of the 1095-C returns, and other related reports upon request.
• Reconcile carrier reports against Employer self-billed invoice to insure employee coverage and enrollment status on record is current.
• Notify HR administrators of any changes that affect employee health coverage or payroll deductions related to health orders.
• Responsible for COBRA billing and reconciliations with Third Party Administrator
• Responsible for intercompany billing and collection of premiums, and shared expenses related to Human Resource Operations, employee benefits, perks, and employee engagements.
• Manage LOA receivable and coordinate with Group Human Resources Admin to set up payment plans with returning employees.
• Routinely communicate with company HR Administrators, including research of transactions relating to benefit or payroll deductions.
• Other duties as required.

Experience and Qualifications
What we look for in our Benefits Staff Accountant?
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent experience
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate and share solutions with fellow team members
• Prior experience working in General Ledger applications.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and methodologies
• Knowledge of human resources compliance and auditing procedures, a plus
• Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills
• Client-focused attitude with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains)
• Prior Admin experience with UKG aka UltiPro HCM system, or other benefits application
• Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S.
