Position Location

This position is eligible for hybrid (office/remote) working arrangement and flexible working hours. You can be located near anyone of HMC's California locations including, Los Angeles, Ontario, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, or San Jose.

Summary

The BIM Coordinator will be responsible for model delivery, review, coordination, and ensuring that firm wide and project standards are maintained on all deliverables. The BIM Coordinator acts as the central hub through the BIM process and is capable of coordinating with a variety of disciplines in the BIM environment. The BIM Coordinator has close contacts with project managers, studio leaders, BIM Managers, and external design consultants.

Position Responsibilities

• Creates federated models made up of the different models of various disciplines involved in the design and delivery process, using HMC protocols, programs and structures
• Ensures models capture scope and objectives of the project deliverables
• Ensures compliance with the BIM Execution Plan
• Ensures compliance with HMC Architects' graphic and BIM standards as well as any client mandated BIM or other standards throughout project
• Ensures consistency across all project models
• Makes proposals for any model adjustments to be made through discussions and consultation with impacted team members
• Performs clash detection with federated models coordinating both internal HMC models and external consultant models
• Monitors the implementation of possible adjustments in all federated models
• Generates model health, coordination, and status reports
• Controls, monitors and steers the BIM process with the necessary tools
• Provides guidance and training to project team members covering implementation and application of BIM processes
• Guides a project team through the BIM process and provides ad hoc assistance to the wider practice when required
• Liaises with project team, clients and consultants to review all BIM models for the project and makes any necessary amendments
• Promotes the use of BIM and best practice at all times
• Reviews the optimal BIM related software addressing current and future needs
• Works closely with project teams to find solutions around: rendering, advanced modelling, parametric design, visual scripting, data handling, and BIM processes
• Provides individual user help and version update training for non-CADBIM applications such as O365 and Adobe Creative Cloud
• Organize information and conduct training sessions related to the BIM process, and monitor the coaching and guidance of staff members including Senior staff and provide guidance on training needs to Management
• Ability to develop learning material, deliver effective training and provide ongoing education and support to BIM project teams within the HMC Education and Training curricula
• All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, IT or equivalent
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years' in design or construction practice
• Familiarity with Design Visualization applications such as Enscape, Twinmotion, 3D Studio Max (and Mental Ray and/or VRay), Rhino (and VRay), Sketch up, FormIt, etc
• Familiarity with Computational Design applicationsvisual scripting i.e. Dynamo and Grasshopper, etc
• Familiarity with applications such as Cove tool, DIVA, Ladybug, IES-VE, Climate Studio
• Have the capability to use Collaboration, Standards-checking, and Clash Detection tools for viewing and coordinating BIM (Newfoma, BIM360 Docs, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, etc.)
• Familiarity with legacy CAD applications and practices
• Experience in teachingtraining and conducting classes in Revit applications/standards and BIM Processes
• Have an ability to define BIM deliverables
• The ability to apply their design experience to the models they produce
• Have ability to set up and coordinate a BIM Protocol and/or Execution Plan for a project
• Travel as needed
• Hybrid work schedule

The salary range for this position is $27.93 to $39.31

The actual offered salary for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidate's qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
