• DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION Posted On:05/24/2025 • Full-Time Location NYC-ALL BOROS • Exam May Be Required Department Bridge Repair/352 Kent St Salary Range: $391.30 – $391.30 Job Description *To be considered for this position candidate must be serving permanently in the title, or must have filed for the civil service exam, or be eligible under the 55a program.* Civil Service Title: Cement Mason JOB DESCRIPTION: Prepares and sets forms, mixes and lays cement and concrete, screeds and finishes cement or concrete to grade and contour as required, operates small power equipment and tools. prepares material requisitions for specific job requirements, keeps job and other records, performs other related duties. PREFERRED SKILLS: Ability to perform inspections in all weather conditions which will include nights and weekends. A strong background in AutoCAD and MS office suite are required. Ability to drive city owned vehicle. Preference will be given to candidate who possess a Commercial Driver's License A or B (CDL), valid in the state of New York. This license maybe required for certain assignments. If required, this license must be maintained for duration of appointment in this position. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a cement mason; or 2. At least three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a cement mason, plus sufficient full-time satisfactory experience as a mason’s helper, or relevant training acquired in an approved trade school, technical school or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of the remaining experience. The school must be approved by a state’s Department of Education or comparable agency. You will receive credit for six months of cement mason experience for each year of mason’s helper experience or approved training.
