Job Description

We are an industrial Pipe Valve and Fitting Wholesaler looking for a full-time staff bookkeeper/accountant/admin assistant. This person will handle our payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxes, deposits, cash receipts, journal entries, and other duties with attention to detail and accurate reporting. Some light administration, including customer/vendor support, will be included. Candidates should have completed training in accounting services and/or business administration or equivalent business experience, preferably in the pipe, valve, and fitting and/or construction field. Must be confident and comfortable in all aspects of Peachtree, including entering transactions, processing payroll, creating invoices, paying bills, making journal entries, preparing financial statements, and troubleshooting accounting issues. Other duties will include answering the phone, preparing submittal and close-out documents, and some light filing. Most importantly, we are looking for an outgoing and personable professional who is committed to detail in accounting while having excellent judgment to ensure the right thing is being done. Requirements: - At least 3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience - Sound computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Peachtree - Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to meet assigned deadlines - Ability to follow policies and procedures, identify problems/issues, and identify non-compliance with internal control procedures - Ability to work independently with limited supervision - Positive attitude and ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management - Demonstrated ability in dealing directly with customers/vendors - Accuracy and attention to detail in an open office environment, as well as a record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits Responsibilities: - Performing month-end, quarter-end, and/or year-end financial statement close work, including: - Bank and credit card reconciliations - Recording journal entries - Reconciling general ledger account balances to sub-ledgers, other schedules maintained, or third-party statements - Creating an electronic work file to support the accounting work performed each month/quarter/year - Preparing annual Forms 1099 and Form 1096, quarterly sales and use tax returns, business licenses, and tax filings We offer competitive compensation and a friendly, laid-back work environment.
