Job Description Job summary Martinus is seeking a Grapple Truck Operator in rail bridge construction to support our upcoming projects. Tasks and Responsibilities • Maintain a safety conscious work ethic. • Maneuver vehicles and other machinery around construction areas. • Prepares a designated site for building. • Utilization of construction vehicles such as bulldozers, all terrain forklifts, mobile cranes, excavators, loaders, motor graders, backhoes and more, to assist in the erection and maintenance of structures as well as operation of hi-rail equipment, such as grapple truck. • Are responsible for soil leveling or ground manipulation and for the transportation of equipment and materials at job sites. • Highly skilled in the construction and repair of bridges. • May operate machines that dig trenches, excavate construction sites, or lift heavy equipment, grade land or pave roads. • Should possess acute visual perception abilities to accurately judge distances. • A basic understanding of electronics to operate many of the newer vehicles designed with electronic controls. • Daily equipment inspection and maintenance. • Use handheld mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources. • Will obey all traffic laws, ordinances, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices. • Be familiar with federal and state regulations as they relate to the railroad industry. • Ability to update rules and manuals to assure continuous compliance with all railroad regulations. • Adhere to and promote safe work practices. • Effectively communicate with team members and customers. Desired Skills and Experience Qualifications • Must be able and have a willingness to work safely. • Must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions** • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, on-call, nights, weekends & holidays** • Able to work in a team environment and individually. • Excellent oral and written communication skills, willingness to take direction. • Willingness to tackle new and challenging tasks. • Required minimum 2 years experience running a grapple truck on bridges in a railroad related field. • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance. • Essential physical requirements, such climbing, standing, bending, twisting and lifting. • Exposures encountered, such as hazardous materials, loud noise, extreme heat/cold. • Travel requirements as assigned. • Must pass federal background check. • Ability to comply with FRA 219 drug program. • Possess and demonstrate knowledge of FRA 213 rules and regulations. • Must have CDL A EEO: Equal Opportunity Employer – Race/Color/Sex/Religion/National Origin/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/Vets/Disabilities Benefits: Martinus and its affiliate companies offer an excellent total compensation package* including competitive salary, per diem, 401(k) plan with company match, available medical/dental/vision/life/disability insurance along with flexible spending and paid vacation and holidays.
