Builder's Assistant for Event Decor Fabrication Company

Party at the Moontower is an event furniture and decor rental and fabrication company located in Southeast Austin. We rent high-end furniture for events such as weddings, festivals, conferences and other corporate parties. In addition to furniture, we also custom build structures such as photo-worthy backdrops, stage backdrops and decor, walls/flats and other branded event pieces. We are seeking a full time builder's assistant to support our Production Department by performing various carpentry, fabrication, painting, installation and furniture repair tasks as needed. The ideal candidate will have basic carpentry skills, is detail-oriented and have an easy-going, can-do attitude. Must be able to start by Sept 15th or sooner. —————————————————— Key Responsibilities are as follows... Assisting our Design & Build Engineer: • Carpentry tasks: help cutting, preparing and assembling various custom designed structures • Help researching/sourcing materials • Running errands such as picking up materials Painting/Finishing/Re-finishing: • Painting our existing backdrops & structures in custom colors for clients • Finishing & Painting newly fabricated pieces • Sanding, repairing and refinishing furniture or walls/structures Furniture Repairs: • Perform repairs and other maintenance on various furniture items such as chairs, tables, lounge furniture and bars. • Repairs range from simple repetitive tasks such as tightening/reinforcing screws to sanding and refinishing tables as well as more skilled repairs such as repairing or building new furniture parts. Onsite Fabricated Piece Installation: • In addition to helping build pieces we have custom designed and fabricated, we will also need help installing those pieces onsite at the clients event venue. —————————————————— Job Requirements: • Basic knowledge of carpentry and construction tools and hardware such as: hammers, drills, screw-types and other basic hardware • Basic knowledge of tool safety and procedures • Ability to easily commute to our warehouse located in SE Austin (just east the intersection of i35 and Ben White/71 E) • Valid Drivers License • Willingness to go onsite to event venues/locations for installations • Uphold our Core Values: Positivity, Ingenuity, Drive, Teamwork Nice-to Have Skills: • Welding/Metal working experience • Event or film production experience Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry heavy furniture items • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs safely • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with fluctuating temperatures • Ability to work outdoors when needed for event installations —————————————————— Our ideal candidate has/is: • Prior experience in an event or film production environment is a plus but not required • Strongattention to detail • Comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment • Ability to adapt quickly and take on various tasks as needed— “can-do-attitude” • Someone who can take a project and run with it and take initiative in resolving issues, BUT who also isn’t afraid to ask questions • Good communication skills • The ability to work well in a team and receive direction from multiple managers depending on the task that is delegated • Ingenuity and the ability to problem solve in real time • A keen interest in design—interior design, architecture, experiential events • A desire to always go above and beyond • Flexibility to work some odd hours when needed — be ready to be part of the event industry!
