Position Summary
Supervise operations and activities of all custodial personnel engaged in cleaning and maintaining campus housing facilities for residents, guests and conference attendees.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide effective supervision to personnel by: managing employee work assignments; assessing employee performance; performing annual employee performance reviews and; maintaining employee attendance and time records.
• Implement the department custodial program and maintain cleaning standards through the supervision of custodial staff: Building Service Foreman, Building Service Workers, Extra Help Building Service Workers, and Building Service Aides.
• Establish and maintain appropriate relationships and communication with other housekeeping personnel, residence life staff, and residents affected by and concerned with custodial services
• Assess cleaning needs of assigned area(s) and manage workforce output accordingly. Assist in the interviewing, selection, training & development of new custodial staff. Counsel staff in areas of required improvement and participate in disciplinary processes as necessary
• Assist in the testing and evaluation of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment
• Inventory, secure, request, and distribute cleaning supplies.
• Inventory, secure, assign, and direct the movement of cleaning equipment.
• Inspect and direct minor housekeeping equipment repairs
• Develop and implement strategic work plans for special projects, summer conferences, and preventative maintenance
• Participate in strategic planning for facilities needs related to staffing levels and future projects
• Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Three (3) years (36 months) of experience in building service operations or related work.Two (2) years (24 months) in building custodial supervisory capacity.
