Your Role and Responsibilities

The Business Development and Thought Leadership leader will articulate and drive our sustainability work at the intersection of business research and communications. This individual will create a more holistic strategy for the Chief Sustainability Office to strengthen relationships both internally and externally embedding sustainability in partnership and business discussions and ensuring that the CSO is a growth enabler for business as well as driving thoughtful perspectives in technology and sustainability. They are responsible for:

  • Creating a strategy for business development opportunities and executing against that with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Engaging with clients partners and internal business (sales product services) and corporate stakeholders proactively
  • Monitoring global trends and regulations to ensure relevance and opportunities
  • Engaging proactively with relevant associations organizations and individuals globally to identify areas for partnership
  • Engaging with technology and consulting teams to discuss and manage relevant use cases
  • Identifying the relevant and critical external thought leadership partners externally engaging on the appropriate opportunities and executing on substance with the IBM Research Technology and/or Consulting leads


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience identifying and assessing business and partner opportunities
  • Sustainability technical and policy expertise
  • Experience with creating and executing on strategy with critical thinking
  • Highly collaborative in nature able to identify and work across a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to communicate to a broad range of stakeholders


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience and technical skills using various databases IT apps; ability and strong drive to learn and develop new relevant software skills (e.g. automation and AI)
  • Experience and network with relevant sustainability-oriented associations regulators technology providers and an understanding of market trends
