Car Hauler Trailer Technician/Welder

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Car Hauler Trailer Technician with strong mig and tig welding and metal fabrication skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in problem solving mostly on Cottrell auto transport trailers, but other auto transport trailers as well as some flat beds and box trailers as needed. Heavy equipment technicians are encouraged to apply. Applicants with strong steel equipment production experience are encouraged to apply. Duties • Conduct thorough inspections of trailers to identify mechanical issues and ensure compliance with safety standards. • Perform diagnostics to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to trailer functionality. • Execute repairs on tractor-trailer systems, including brakes, tires, electrical systems, and suspension components. • Execute trailer modifications as required by the company. • Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used during repairs. • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs while maintaining quality standards. • Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their trailer needs and repair status. Qualifications • Proven experience as a Service Technician or in a similar role within the semi tractor/trailer repair industry. • Strong knowledge of electrical diagnostics, particularly related to tractor-trailer connection systems. • Familiarity with Cottrell trailers is required. • Familiarity with Sun Country, Sun Valley, Wally Mo, Boydston etc. a plus. • Excellent mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various trailer components effectively. • Experience with other heavy equipment service and maintenance can be substituted for car hauler trailer experience. • Ability to dismantle and reconstruct damaged steel trailer components • Ability to fabricate steel parts that might be added as modifications to some trailers under company supervision. • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. • Forklift certification is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification if necessary is required. • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
