Job Description

Position Hours
  • Weekday days (0700‐1530, 0830‐1700)

  • On‐call rotation of one 1700‐0700 per week, and every fourth weekend (Fri‐Sun)

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides technical support for all Cath Lab procedures to include: catheterizations, angioplasty, structural heart procedures, peripheral angiography and angioplasty, temp pacemaker insertion and LV assist device insertions.

  • Responsible for technical support and clinical assistance, both sterile and non‐sterile, of procedures including: catheterizations, angioplasty, structural heart procedures, peripheral angiography and angioplasty, temp pacemaker insertion and LV assist device insertions.

  • Operates required advanced imaging equipment using established guidelines and imaging protocols for interventional and non‐interventional patient procedures.

  • Ensures proper safety standards are met and radiation safety practices are adhered to.

  • Instructs students and residents and performs preceptor duties when necessary.

  • Performs quality assurance checks on equipment.

  • Assists in maintaining supply inventory for all Cath Lab procedures.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of UHS information systems.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of coding procedures for accurate billing of all Cath Lab procedures

  • Learns new techniques and technology by attending lectures, seminars, and educational readings.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Required
  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology

  • New York State license as Radiologic Technologist

  • Two (2) years of experience in full services hospital as a Radiologic Technologist.

Preferred:
  • Previous experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a Cardiac Cath Lab

Work Environment

  • All work is performed in the department which consists of the Cardiac Cath Lab. These rooms are air conditioned as well as heated, areas are occasionally subject to fumes.
  • Delivery of services is through the use of radiation to produce images for physician diagnosis readings, and intervention on cardiac procedures.
  • Standing for long periods.
  • PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies.
  • Lead protection devices, barriers, gloves, lead glasses, shields, and aprons must be worn per radiation safety policies.

Age of Patients Served

  • Adolescent: 13 to 17 Years
  • Early Adulthood: 18 to 45 Years
  • Middle Adult: 46 to 59 Years
  • Late Adult: 60 to 79 Years
  • Elderly: 80+ Years

HIPAA Roles‐Based Access to Patient Information

  • Clinical ‐ Access to patient information that is not restricted (an example of restricted information is ARU) ‐ Level 3
