Position Overview: As a Carpenter for the Production team at Destinations by design you will play a vital role in bringing our clients' visions to life. You will work closely with our event production team to build, set up, and dismantle event structures and décor items, ensuring that every detail is executed with precision and creativity. Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Construct and assemble event structures such as stages, platforms, truss systems, and custom scenic elements according to design specifications and CAD drawings. • Build décor items needed for events, following provided specifications. • Ensure all carpentry work is completed with precision and adherence to quality standards. • Effective Tool and Material Utilization: • Efficiently use tools and materials provided to minimize wear and tear and waste. • Select appropriate tools and equipment based on project requirements. • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership regarding project status, issues, or concerns. • Collaborate with the event production team to meet project goals and deadlines. • Follow all safety standards to maintain a safe working environment, preventing accidents, injuries, or damage to company property. • Maintain quality standards as established for all projects. • Inspect finished workpieces for adherence to specifications and quality. • Communicate effectively through written correspondence and oral communication with clients, hotel/venue contacts, and internal teams. • Manage vendor communication, costing, and collaboration. DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS: • Proven experience as a Carpenter, preferably in event production or a related field. • Proficiency in carpentry techniques and the use of carpentry tools and equipment. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to overcome challenges. • Excellent attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship. • Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment. • Effective communication skills. • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed, especially during peak event seasons. • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions. • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. • Certification in carpentry or a related field. • Experience with scenic design and custom fabrication. • Familiarity with CAD software for design and layout purposes. Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times. • Must access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
