JOB TITLE: Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The teacher is responsible for the values based education of the students entrusted to his/her care through both delivery of the instructional program and modeling of appropriate skills, attitudes and behaviors.There is no more important relationship in the school than that between the teacher and student.
A teacher at Catalyst must be mission driven and results oriented. He or she must hold the belief that not only can all students learn, but that theywilllearn. The Catalyst teacher must take steps to gain command of the curriculum and the classroom and assume responsibility for the success of each child.
The teacher is immediately accountable to the principal. It is the teacher’s duty to utilize every possible resource to drive his/her students toward superior academic outcomes in a highly structured, respectful, disciplined environment that maximizes the use of instructional minutes and reflects Catalyst’s character traits and values.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s degree in Education
● Current Professional Educators License in the state of Illinois
● Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
● Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
● Self-awareness, a regular practice of reflection, and a desire to continuously improve
● Ability to learn and operate technological platforms and resources
● Demonstrate the ability to engage in school-wide change initiatives
● Ability to create and maintain positive and supportive relationships with all scholars and school staff

● Demonstrate culturally responsive techniques when interacting with scholars
● Ability to communicate orally and in writing
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruction & Curriculum
● Design and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that reflects high expectations and scholar engagement
● Develop and maintain written unit plans and daily lesson plans that align with Catalyst curriculum and values
● Use data from formative, interim, and summative assessments (IAR, ISA, FastBridge, internal assessments) to guide instructional decisions
● Implement all components of Catalyst’s academic model, including web-based curriculum, data-driven instruction, and targeted differentiation
● Maintain consistent procedures and classroom routines that maximize instructional time
Classroom Culture
● Establish and maintain a structured, disciplined, and respectful learning environment aligned to Catalyst values and character traits
● Set and reinforce clear expectations for scholar behavior, engagement, and growth
● Build strong relationships with scholars to support a classroom climate of belonging and motivation
● Model professionalism, integrity, and positive character traits at all times
Professional Collaboration & Growth
● Actively participate in grade-level, department, and staff meetings
● Engage in school-wide professional development and reflect critically on teaching practice
● Respond professionally to feedback from leadership and implement improvement strategies
● Collaborate with colleagues to plan instruction, analyze data, and resolve issues respectfully and promptly
Family & School Engagement
● Participate in parent-teacher conferences, family events, and school functions
● Communicate regularly with families about scholar progress and class updates
● Uphold school policies and procedures as outlined in the staff and student handbooks
● Be prepared to supervise scholars at any time as needed during the school day
Operational Responsibilities
● Begin class on time and manage classroom transitions efficiently
● Uphold all expectations related to attendance, punctuality, documentation, and compliance
● Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or leadership team to support school-wide operations

● Clear evidence of scholar academic growth on IAR, ISA, FastBridge, and curriculum-based assessments
● Effective and consistent classroom culture where all scholars feel safe, respected, and engaged
● Demonstrated implementation of Catalyst’s academic model, including data-informed planning and instructional adjustments
● Strong family communication and collaboration that supports scholar success
● Active participation in professional learning, team collaboration, and school culture initiatives
● Consistent adherence to school policies, professional expectations, and a mindset of continuous improvement

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $54,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
