Job Purpose/Overview
The Future Consumption Category Manager, WMT Inc. serves as a trusted partner to Walmart and Sam's is responsible for managing category leadership solutions for Walmart for the confectionery businesses including Chocolate, Fruity Confections, Gum and Mints. This role is expected to provide fact and insight-based solutions that drive growth for the category. Utilizing shopper insights, opportunity identification and full understanding of products, assortment, pricing, placement, shelf, promotion, and merchandising, this role is the primary insight provider for our Future Consumption businesses at Walmart leading to marketplace actions. This role will work closely with internal and external partners and must be excellent at penetrating key decisions makers at the buying team level.
Reporting to the Walmart Inc. Category Leadership Director for the Mars Wrigley Walmart Team, this role is part of the Category Leadership organization.

As the Future Consumption Category Manager, this role is a responsible for:
- Create and plan category leadership solutions that deliver profitable sales growth for Walmart Inc. These solutions should include shopper and category insights across products/ assortment, placement, merchandising, pricing, and promotions and align to Category Vision.
- Develop Key Walmart Decision Maker Relationships
- Support Internal Stakeholders to Identify and Solve for Key Opportunities Through Regular and Ad Hoc Analytics/Story Telling (i.e. Line Reviews, Cat Reviews, Through the Line Initiatives, In-store POG Influence)
- Own Perfect Store Initiatives for Total Walmart Team Including Product, Path, Position & Page
- Identify Impulse Opportunities (High Level and Assortment) and Influence Walmart to Test or Implement Solutions by Creating Insight-Based Selling Stories
- Focus on Product Availability In-store and Online (i.e. OOS, Instocks, Regionality)
- Identify, Influence and Manage Digital Research Opportunities that benefit both Walmart and the Category
- Project Management and Results Tracking of All Future Consumption Tests
- Influence Annual Account Business Planning at Walmart, through full partnering, by providing actionable omnichannel insights and solutions that support category leadership objectives for customer, company and category
- Collaborating with MW Category Strategy team to leverage and activate internal initiatives, including Perfect Store execution and best practice sharing

This role will support the Omni Channel Advisor and Walmart's Confectionary team, balancing timelines and priorities will be important for success. Role will require analytical expertise, project management skills and a proactive, possibilities mindset. Much work will be completed individually, but other projects will require significant collaboration with other members of the Category Advisory team to achieve shared goals and objectives.
This role is a Walmart/Sam's Category Advisory position, and the associate must commit to abide by the terms of the Walmart/Sam's Advisory agreements.
Education & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Knowledge / Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years CPG experience In Sales and/or Category Management, preferably at Walmart or Sam's Club
- Highly proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, PPT, etc.)
- Proficient in Retail Link
- Syndicated data analysis experience (IRI or Nielsen; Scan, Panel, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills, and advanced capability in obtaining, organizing, analyzing and translating data into relevant, actionable insights
- Strong presentation building and delivery skills
- Ability to creatively solve problems and apply critical thinking skills
- Strong understanding of consumer/shopper behaviour
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel (up to 10% of time)
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or other relevant advanced degree
- Proficient with JDA
- 5 years of CPG experience, Including both Sales and Category functions
- Customer facing experience, particularly with Walmart and/or Sam's
- Experience managing and visualizing large sets of data using cutting edge tools (Power BI, Alteryx, Data Lake,Tableau, etc.)
- Business analysis experience across multiple functions (CMI, Sales, Supply Chain, Marketing) and/or channels
