Roushβs Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) department is seeking a CFD Analyst to join our team. The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analyst performs computational fluid dynamics and thermal simulation analyses to solve real world engineering problems in the automotive, aerospace, and industrial segments. The CFD Analyst builds finite volume CFD models and runs CFD simulations.
Responsibilities
- Build finite volume CFD models for various applications in automotive, aerospace and industrial segments using commercial solvers such as Ansys Fluent or Star-CCM+.
- Run CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations to convergence, postprocess results, and provide engineering analysis.
- Develop detailed reports to support customer presentations.
- Develop scripts for workflow automation.
- Learn new CAE tools quickly.
- Manage analysis files according to company data-retention policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with coursework in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), thermal analysis, or numerical methods.
- Knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, finite volume methods and turbulence modeling.
- Good attention to detail and ability to use hand calculations to validate input and results.
- Ability to communicate verbal and written technical information.
- Knowledge of basic engineering principles.
- Excellent problem-solving ability
Preferred Skills
- Masters or Ph.D. degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
- 1 year of Computational Fluid Dynamics experience.
- Experience in 3D fluids and thermal modeling.
- Experience in writing scripts and process automation.
- Experience with writing automation scripts such as function hooks, UDF or subroutines.
- U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance.
- Proficient in at least one programming language (C++, Java and/or Python).
- Knowledge of pre-processors such as ANSA and HyperMesh.
