The new Chair will provide bold, visionary leadership, strategic direction, and effective operational oversight for all aspects of the department. They will be responsible for aligning the department’s clinical, research and educational programs with the missions of University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. They will inherit a department with a strong foundation and a vibrant academic culture, offering a rare opportunity to lead from a position of strength rather than rebuild. The Chair will report to Nicole Maronian, MD, President of University Hospitals Physician Services; Daniel Simon, MD, President of Academic & External Affairs and Chief Scientific Officer of UH and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Case Western Reserve University; and Stanton Gerson, MD, Dean of the School of Medicine and Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs at Case Western Reserve University. In addition, the Chair will hold a dual appointment as Chair of Dermatology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, reinforcing the department’s deep academic roots and fostering collaboration across research and educational initiatives.

Qualified candidates are those who: hold a medical degree (MD, MD/PhD or equivalent). They will have a demonstrated track record of progressive leadership experience within a complex and dynamic academic health system and/or medical school and be eligible for faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Clinically active candidates must be board certified and eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio.
