Our facility has the only freestanding acute care for the elderly (ACE) unit and is recognized as one of the leading innovative geriatric specialty programs in the country. We have developed a uniquely specialty geriatric interdisciplinary evaluation clinic (GIVE), and high-risk geriatric home evaluation program (GHELP).
Situated in the vibrant historical downtown Charleston low country, our medical center provides a comprehensive array of primary and specialty health services. Our dedicated teams are focused on enhancing the health and well-being of our Veterans through compassionate and innovative care.

Job Responsibilities

As the Chief of GEC Service, excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills will support the continued growth and innovation of our current and potential new programs.
Administrative Duties include, but are not limited to:

Develops, organizes, directs, manages, and implements policies and procedures specific to the GEC Service Line in accordance with facility requirements.
Is responsible for developing and directing geriatric educational and training programs; sets training and oversight objectives.
Reviews clinic operations and assesses opportunities and successes using data and information oversight to support increased patient outcomes.
Attend required leadership meetings and communicate relevant information to the GEC team.
Clinical Duties:
The role of the Chief includes the provision of clinical care in geriatric services.
Supervisory Duties:
Ensures the administrative and clinical supervision of GEC staff in their professional role, in a variety of inpatient and outpatient program areas and clinics
Oversees all geriatric activities within the medical center ensuring that educational and quality geriatric care needs of Veterans are met. To accomplish the functions of this position, close cooperation with leadership, including all other service Chiefs, is required.

Monday- Friday 8:00am -4:30 pm
