  • In accordance with (IAW) Public Law 101-647 Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094. A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position.
  • IAW AFI 34-248 and DOD certification requirements, a pre-employment physical examination with a renewal at least every 3 years and specified immunizations are required.

Qualifications

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED:
  • IAW AFI 34-248 and DOD certification requirements, a pre-employment physical examination with a renewal at least every 3 years and specified immunizations are required.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain Food Handler's, First Aid, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)certifications and complete additional training requirements.
  • The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. Incumbent must possess and be able to maintain an appropriate, valid driver's license. An annual driving record check is required.
  • If the position is required to operate a motor vehicle, the incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use IAW AFI 90-508, Attachment 2, Category I, Type 2: Motor Vehicle Operators.
  • At a minimum, meet qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management for the 1701 occupational series.
  • Incumbent may occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours to include weekends, holidays and evenings. Incumbent may be required to work a split shift to meet supervisory or program requirements.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
A bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as, but not limited to child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application.
OR
A combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described in A above. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-4 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include specialized experience, which must have been in group child care or other work that demonstrated the ability to: -Manage the operation of a child care center. -Select, train, and supervise child care and preschool employees, family child care providers, or other care-giving adults. -Develop and implement child development programs, including family day care programs, part-day preschool programs, and before and after school programs. -Work with individuals and groups to solve complex problems related to the care and education of children.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of child development theory, methodology and practices relating to physical, intellectual, social and nutritional development as it pertains to principles and concepts within the Air Force Child Development Programs.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
6. Knowledge of budgetary methods, practices, policies, procedures, and regulations to gather and analyze budgetary information

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
