The unit Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information for his/her department. Reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries and requests from staff, providers, etc.

This position is full-time. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 1200 Route 300 Newburgh, NY.

We offer 4 - 6 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct prior authorization
• Complete various clerical Tasks
• Complete batch (incoming) faxes
• Will be trained to complete cardiology check-outs
• Fill out forms and reach out to external vendors
• Utilize/maintain applicable office equipment and systems (e.g., fax; scanner; phone systems; personal computers)
• Utilize/maintain relevant software applications (e.g., Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Outlook; Access; Right Fax; OnBase; Filemaker)
• Contact appropriate personnel in order to perform office equipment repairs
• Manage/monitor/procure office supplies, goods and services

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
• Must be 18 years of age OR Older
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Word
• Ability to work our normal business hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology

Soft skills:

• Great communication skills
• Good computer skills

The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $24.42 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
