Role Overview
The Client Director is an expert in client service / account management and often an autonomous business lead with our clients. CDs are optimists with high EQ and excellent relationship skills.
They ensure client satisfaction with flawlessly executed brand transformation projects, are a valued partner to the internal team and are, in many ways, its leader. They're always looking for new growth opportunities with existing and new clients.
The Short List
- Leads a portfolio of 2 to 3 clients.
- Serves as a Senior Client Service member connected to the day-to-day needs of the project with revenue and profitability targets.
- Takes responsibility for L&F’s delivery on client briefs while balancing strategic and creative excellence.
- Drive collaboration across a multifunctional team regionally (and sometimes globally) and pushes innovation & new approaches to get there.
- Exhibits fluency in building project proposals/scopes-of-work/staffing plans.
- Partners with Executive Client Directors, Practice Leads and GMs to identify growth opportunities.
- Manages/mentors/trains mid-and–junior team members, as necessary.
The Details
Internal Team Leader:
- Drives the overall health of the account and output by ensuring the deliverables are on-brief and on-budget.
- Own financial health of accounts and partner closely with working teams and finance to track closely and ensure weekly reporting to leadership is accurate.
- Guide and inspire the teams throughout the course of projects.
- Become an advocate for the internal teams to help them through the highs and lows of the project as needed.
- Celebrate the wins and shine a light on key team members when it’s warranted.
- Have tough conversations when needed to ensure teams are clear on any outages. Realign when necessary!
Partner with client teams, up through C-suite to:
- Ensure clients recognize the need-for and value-of brand led agency partnership.
- Ground them in the full L&F offer and continue discussions around how to further their business objectives with L&F offers.
- Ensure L&F outputs are aligned /approved with critical stakeholders on the client side. Manage expectations and the process.
Growth Driver:
- Drive organic growth for your accounts by continually identifying growth opportunities and working with your triumvirate and Executive Client Director on growth pitches.
- Responsible for identifying and pitching 3x growth opportunities a year, per client.
Creative & Strategist:
- Partner with internal and external teams to help them see how the client business objectives, brand strategy and creative output are aligned and driving towards excellence.
New Business:
- Participate in new business processes & lead presentations as needed.
