Job Description

Databases are crucial to every serious business and InPost is no different. On our way to the Cloud, we are looking for an experienced database engineer with strong cloud skills to assist us with the migration of multiple terabytes of data, stored in different database engines such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, and Scylla while keeping optimal performance, minimizing downtime, and getting the best value for money. Specifically, we are searching for someone who has profound experience when it comes to maintaining heavily used databases in the Cloud, designing solutions for high performance and high availability, and adhering to Infrastructure-as-Code principles. 

Objectives of this role:

• Transform and design database infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform. 
• Migrate existing workloads to GCP with minimal disruption for users. 
• Build and maintain development, pre-production, and production environments. 
• Ensure optimal performance, security, availability, and cost of database infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and configure virtual machines and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) instances. 
• Create and maintain documentation. 
• Share knowledge with DBA and DevOps teams. 
• Provide advice and assistance for development teams. 
• Plan and conduct data migration to GCP.
• Identify and mitigate performance and security issues. 
• Configure monitoring tools (Zabbix, Dynatrace, and DBMarlin). 
• Participate in day-to-day database administration tasks like provisioning, user access management, backups, and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Experience with public cloud (preferably Google Cloud Platform).
• Experience with PostgreSQL (additional database engines such as SQL Server, MongoDB, Scylla, MySQL will be a plus). 
• Knowledge of Python for scripting purposes.
• Experience in using Terraform to create, maintain, and test infrastructure. 
• English speaking ability (B2 or better).
