Cloud Storage Engineer

Expedient has an immediate opening for an experienced Cloud Storage Engineer on our Service Reliability team. The Service Reliability team ensures Expedient services remain dependable by developing strategies to prevent failures and minimize service downtime to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding client base. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in a broad range of technical solutions, with an emphasis on storage, data protection, and cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS). This position requires someone with a great level of technical depth in both storage hardware and storage software. A strong understanding of distributed file systems, networking, and backup strategies also is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Provide regular updates to management regarding projects, support, and technology roadmaps
• Design and implementation of storage products – block, file, and object
• Design automated health and capacity reports for proactive problem resolution and review
• Document and maintain knowledgebase of storage deployments
• Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve storage-related issues
• Design and implement security measures to protect data stored on all storage platforms
• Propose and lead analyses of alternative physical and logical layer designs and architectures, leading to increased availability, performance, scalability, and efficiency
• Ensure infrastructure is designed and architected for full-lifecycle operability and serviceability
• Models the Expedient values of Accountability, Adaptability, Passion, Results, Teamwork

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Expertise in storage technologies such as object, block, and file storage
• Experience using APIs with storage platforms to accomplish management tasks
• Familiarity with storage protocols including NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, S3
• Expertise in cross-functional team collaboration
• Working knowledge of storage hardware architectures
• Working knowledge of data center, wiring, and facilities
• Working knowledge of networking protocols, structure, and design
• Working understanding of hypervisors and virtualization technologies
• Familiar with DevOps/Automation tools and concepts
• Familiar with agile methodologies, sprint management
• Experience supporting environments providing high availability and disaster recovery
• Experience in customer service and vendor management
• Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role
• Excellent problem solving & trouble-shooting skills 
• Must be self-motivated and capable of prioritizing and executing multiple high priority initiatives 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PREFERRED:

• Experience with Cloudian, VMware vSAN, Nutanix storage, or Ctera a plus
• Relevant certifications from storage vendors

Salary for this position is directly commensurate with your experience. Estimated salary range is $120,000 to $150,000 annually.
