Job Title: CNC Machinist
CNC Machinist is part of a production team located in the Houston manufacturing facility. Role is responsible for precision machining parts based on customer specifications. Sets up, programs and operates CNC lathes and mills to fabricate metallic parts by performing the following duties:
• Study CAD drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and set up requirements. This role will make necessary G-Code edits on the machines.
• Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
• Machine parts to precision tolerances up to 0.0005"
• Verify conformance of finished workpiece to precise specifications, using micrometers, calipers, or other measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
• Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data as necessary
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required
• Confer with engineers, designers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintains all equipment, to like new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a collaborative manner with customers, co-workers, and management.
• Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous quality improvement.
• Participate in staff safety and schedule meetings, providing current and accurate workflow information and suggestions for productivity and quality improvement
• Comply with company safe work practices
Job Qualifications:
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. He/she must be a self-starter who understands tight deadlines and be willing to work overtime if required. Familiarity with, or ability to learn, Mitsubishi EDM is a plus in this role.
Education and/or Experience:
• A minimum of two years of experience working as a CNC machinist
• Completion of formal CNC machining program preferred
• CAD/CAM programming knowledge a plus
Required Skills:
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Applicants must be able to lift up to 50lbs, stand, bend and sit for extended periods. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel parts; reach with hands and arms.
Specific vision capabilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear variation in machine sounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level and temperature in the work environment is usually moderate.
Other:
Strong understanding of machine shop safety is a must for this role. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsoring now or in the future.
Schedule:
• Day shift (11:00am - 8:00pm) and/or weekends, negotiable
