POSITION OVERVIEW
The CNC Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines to produce precision parts and components according to engineering specifications. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong technical background and the ability to work with various materials and complex machinery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Prepare and set up CNC machines for production runs.
• Load and unload materials and components onto the machine.
• Program CNC machines using G-code or other programming languages as needed.
• Operate CNC machines to manufacture parts within precise tolerances and quality standards.
• Make real-time adjustments to machine settings to maintain accuracy and quality.
• Create and modify 3D models for CNC machining using Aspire or similar software.
• Conduct routing simulations to optimize tool paths and detect potential issues before production.
• Troubleshoot design and programming errors to improve efficiency.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Document and report any deviations from quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure CNC machines function optimally.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot machine malfunctions and coordinate repairs as necessary.
• Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Follow all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a secure work environment.
• Stay updated with the latest CNC technologies and Aspire software advancements.
• Identify and propose process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Participate in safety training and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
• Perform other tasks as assigned to support production goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of CNC programming and 3D modeling experience, preferably with Aspire.
• Proficiency in Aspire, G-code, and routing simulation.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files.
• Strong understanding of CNC tooling, feeds, and speeds.
• Experience with multi-axis CNC machines.
• Background in woodworking, metalworking, or composite materials.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM software beyond Aspire (e.g., VCarve, Fusion 360).
• Must have experience in the Komo Mach One Sho.
• Must be familiar with Laguna Smart Shop Elite II.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to detect and correct errors in programming and machining.
• Experience troubleshooting machine issues and optimizing processes.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with industry regulations.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
