Introduction:Western Extrusions Corporation is a national leader in the manufacturing of extruded aluminum products. Headquartered in Carrollton, we manufacture quality products used in Americaβs critical infrastructure industries including but not limited to class 8 trucks, electric vehicles, truck trailers, utility scale solar power, electrical transmission, and numerous commercial construction products.
Position Summary: Reporting to the department supervisor. Responsible for operation, job changeovers, adjustments, and troubleshooting to product results within tight tolerances. Operate machines in a productive and safe manner to produce parts that meet quality requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
β’ Wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times. This will include steel-toed boots, safety glasses, arm sleeve protection, ear plugs, etc.
β’ Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
β’ Follow dress code and safety equipment requirements at all times.
β’ Operate various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
β’ Must be capable of working with a variety of tools which may include hand tools, cutting tools, measuring tools and machine tools.
β’ Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
β’ Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
β’ Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
β’ Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to setup instructions.
β’ Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments.
β’ Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
β’ Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Abilities:
β’ Must be able to perform essential functions of job.
β’ Ability to read and understand CNC program, blueprints and operational layouts as required.
β’ Basic knowledge of machining fundamentals and basic operating skills, shop arithmetic, and measuring procedures.
β’ Previous experience required in a fabrication manufacturing environment.
β’ Mechanical ability, experience and knowledge of setting up CNC machines.
β’ Experience and ability with measuring tools, calipers, micrometers.
β’ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering diagrams.
β’ Ability to stand for long hours and sometimes in cramped conditions.
β’ Strong mechanical aptitude.
β’ Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
β’ Haas experience a must.
β’ Mazak experience preferred.
β’ Knowledge of 4 and 5 axis equipment; MasterCam software knowledge.
β’ Completion of machine tool technology degree or a technical school certificate in machining or an equivalent number of years of machining experience preferred.
Please note that the following are a must:Haas, G-Code, Mastercam, and programming experience.
