About the team
The legal team at Typeform is a small but mighty team who ensures that we are protecting the business interests from a contracting and judicial perspective. Our team is globally distributed and covers a wide range of topics: From safeguarding privacy to crafting contracts, and championing support for other business areas. This team fosters a safe and secure environment for both Typeform and its users, allowing us to thrive in the ever-evolving legal landscape.
About the Role
You will act as a trusted legal counsel to internal stakeholders and negotiate complex commercial contracts (customer, vendor and supplier). Supporting the implementation of scalable contracting processes and overall contributing to a more seamless sales cycle. You are a dealmaker with prior experience within the SaaS industry. As our Commercial Legal Counsel, you will be a pivotal member to the legal team and our stakeholders throughout the organisation.
Things you will do
- Engage with external and internal stakeholders globally and ensure reliable contractual relationships are established in a timely manner.
- Be the point of contact for our GTM organization regarding contracts and closing deals
- Partner with other departments like Finance, Product, and HR.
- Support our Sr. Director of Legal in his day to day activities.
- Identify and analyze legal risks associated with contracts and advise on mitigation strategies.
- Actively shape and develop the legal commercial strategy.Β
- Research global regulatory developments and question Typreform may face in jurisdictions worldwide.
- Contribute to the Legal Handbook, sharing expertise with the team.
- Ensure the contractual governance of Typeform by helping the organization track the agreements it is entering into, the upcoming renewals, and the relevant provisions in said contracts.
- Assist the other members of the legal team in landing the legal strategy of the company, as well as in improving the risk management and the levels of compliance of Typeform. In particular, by dealing with privacy-related requests (GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws) and contracts and supporting the projects of the company in that field.
What you already bring to the table:
- Law degree; and 3+ years experience with a combination of law firm and in-house legal department of an international software company
- Experience in commercial and corporate law, including negotiating and drafting a wide range of legal documents: From collaboration agreements, to license agreements, NDAs, etc.Β
- Admitted to practice law in the UK
- Tech-savvy
- Curiosity for IT-related stuff
- Strong understanding of European privacy laws (GDPR, etc.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
- Eager to find pragmatic innovative solutions
- Responsible, hands-on, can-do and chase-to-solve attitude, analytical and flexible;
- Attention to detail, flexible to change, and friendly;
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Extra awesome
- Experience with SaaS companies.
- Knowledge of privacy laws outside the EU.
- Familiarity with both Common Law and Civil Law legal systems
- Some breadth of your legal expertise (labor, corporate, employment, etc.).
- Knowledge of Spanish or other European languages.
