Commercial/Residential HVAC Service Technician

We are looking for a Commercial (60%)/Residential(40%) HVAC Service Technician PositionSummary: We are seeking a skilled and dependable Commercial/Residential HVAC Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial and residential. You will perform routine inspections, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure systems are operating efficiently and in compliance with local codes and safety standards. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of HVAC systems, refrigerants, and electrical components, along with excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to customer satisfaction. This position requires the ability to work independently in the field, manage service calls efficiently, and maintain clear communication with clients and office staff. This is a union position, and qualified applicants must either be current union members or willing to join the union upon hire. Responsibilities • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, including rooftop units, split systems, boilers, and heat pumps. • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and system inspections to ensure efficient operation and minimize downtime. • Interpret wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately service and install HVAC systems. • Document service and maintenance reports clearly and accurately using our digital system. • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members to coordinate service calls and relay updates. • Maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicle in clean and operational condition. • Stay current with industry best practices, tools, and technologies through training and union-provided education. • Be available for emergency service calls, occasional overtime, and rotating on-call shifts as needed. • Represent the company professionally at all times, providing courteous and knowledgeable customer service. Skills • Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical components, and control systems • Skilled in brazing, soldering, and using HVAC tools and gauges • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a field-service environment • Basic computer or mobile device skills for completing service tickets and reports, typing skills required • Willingness to join the union (if not already a member) and participate in ongoing training • Knowledge of commercial HVAC including Boilers & Rooftops • Ability to multi-task and prioritize, and manage time effectively • Must be comfortable with ladder and rooftop work.
