Job Title:Composite Lay-up Technician

Summary:
Lays up pre-impregnated (prepeg) fiber material to specifications and drawings by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following:
• Prepares mold for lay-up, logs into oven, removes part from mold and ensures all paperwork accompanies the part.
• Selects materials, following specifications.
• Prepares mold by cleaning and applying release as required.
• Applies fiber material following specifications for layers and orientation with particular attention to overlaps.
• Ensures no air is trapped in the layers of prepeg.
• Applies ancillary layers, release film, breather, bagging and sealing tape and checks for vacuum leaks.
• Checks oven for proper temperature and notes time at start of curing process.
• Removes article from the oven at the completion of the cure time.
• Carefully inspects part after removal from the mod for wrinkles, starved areas, delaminations and foreign articles.
• Maintains a neat and clean work area at all times.
• Annotates appropriate paperwork with batch numbers, cook times, etc.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or at least one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple reports. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Capable of basic data input.

near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat (non-weather).The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
