Job Description
Job Title:Full-Time Compounding Pharmacist
Location:Summerlin, NV
Schedule:Full-Time Monday-Friday 9am-6pm
Reports To:Pharmacy Manager / Director of Pharmacy
Position Summary
The Compounding Pharmacist is responsible for preparing, compounding, and dispensing customized medications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines, and a strong commitment to patient safety and pharmaceutical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Compounding & Dispensing
β’ Prepare and compound both sterile and/or non-sterile medications according to formula, prescription, and regulatory standards.
β’ Verify accuracy and quality of compounded medications prior to dispensing.
β’ Ensure compliance with USP, state, and federal pharmacy regulations.
β’ Quality Assurance & Compliance
β’ Maintain a clean and organized compounding environment that meets regulatory standards.
β’ Participate in quality assurance programs, environmental monitoring, and process validations.
β’ Maintain accurate and complete documentation for all compounding activities.
β’ Patient Care & Communication
β’ Counsel patients and healthcare providers on proper medication use, storage, and handling.
β’ Review prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and potential drug interactions.
β’ Collaborate with prescribers to clarify orders and provide alternative formulation options when needed.
β’ Inventory & Equipment Management
β’ Manage compounding supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
β’ Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure stock levels and expiration date compliance.
β’ Leadership & Training
β’ Supervise and train pharmacy technicians and support staff in compounding procedures.
β’ Promote adherence to safety and aseptic technique protocols.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure:
β’ Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelorβs in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
β’ Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Nevada.
β’ Sterile compounding certification preferred.
Experience:
β’ Minimum 2 years of experience in a compounding pharmacy setting (sterile, non-sterile, or both).
β’ Knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards.
β’ Experience with compounding software systems.
