As an intern computational designer, you will be a vital part of HDR's Data-Driven Design team. Your role will focus on leveraging computational design for project teams, exploring research opportunities, and creating innovative tools. You will gain insights into the architectural design process and learn how computational design integrates at various stages. No prior experience is necessary, as we will provide training in Rhino, Grasshopper, Python, C#, and Revit.

Responsibilities:

• Learn and support computational design and research methodologies across all market sectors, focusing on design analysis, generative iterations, and computational strategies.
• Assist in developing new computational tools and workflows for design exploration, automated analysis, and advanced data management.
• Aid in creating parametric models and computational workflows for projects.
• Collaborate with Research, Sustainability, and Predictive Analytics teams.
• Support the development and implementation of interoperability workflows between various design applications.
• Contribute to HDR Publications on Innovation and Research.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
• Interest in technology and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Eagerness to learn about Computational Design methodologies.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and visualization is a plus.
• Willingness to learn scripting languages such as C#, VB.NET, and Python.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and a commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture.
