Your Opportunity
This is a junior level Computational Designer role. You will work on tasks under the guidance of a Computational Design Lead and a Senior Designer/Architect. You will be developing design concepts, documentation (plans, elevations, sections) and architectural details for projects with a focus on incorporating computational design efficiencies to streamline project documentation and design optioneering. You will be assisting with innovative and creative digital solutions developing dynamo and grasshopper scripts for use on all projects where applicable and grow depository of scripts to help other designers adopt computational design on projects office wide.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Developing dynamo scripts for implementation on projects focusing on the automation of design & documentation tasks.
- Researching and implementing various applications of computational design methodologies working closely with Stantec's Computational Design Lead.
- Deliver data visualization and related outputs to support next generation workplace, master planning and design methodologies.
- Collaborate with Computational Design Lead to assess office needs and develop workflows.
- Keeps the Project Manager informed of progress on expectations, deadlines, and deliverables that fall within their responsibility.
- Manages the submittal and RFI response process.
- Conducts and manages construction observation reporting and developing punch lists.
- Assists in developing addenda and construction change directives.
- Assists in assuring that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented.
- Assists in project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
- Assists in monitoring and coordination of consultant work and deadlines.
- Understands the limits of the decision-making of their responsibilities of the role and respects the boundaries of the Project Manager responsibilities.
- Contribute to Stantec's publications on Innovation and Research internally and external to drive awareness and educate our staff.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong competency in 3D modeling software such as Revit and Rhino and related parametric design methodologies using Dynamo and Grasshopper; Strong competency in Python, C# and or Java is preferred.
- Strong data and 3D visualization capabilities utilizing PowerBi & Tableau.
- Ability to research and implement new technologies and algorithms appropriate to enhance project goals.
- Highly driven with interest in n multi-variable optimization through Machine Learning & AI.
- Capable of simultaneously supporting multiple Project Mangers on multiple projects.
- General understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
- Takes direction well, however, proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction.
- Manages multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Team player with the client, entire project team and contractor.
- Good communicator, and excellent teamwork skills.
Bachelor's or Mater degree in Architecture or related field & Registered Architect. Minimum of 3 years of experience. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
