The Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Team engineers and supports all the foundational technology used across M&T Bank. We support two Data Centers, 15,000 Distributed platforms, 24 Mainframe Regions, a secure and reliable Network connecting all the technology across the bank footprint and process approximately 635,000 automated jobs per month. In addition to that foundational technology level, we own the operational support processes, monitoring and command center that provide a unified, well-managed technology response when issues arise. We deliver innovative, and compelling technology solutions, in partnership with our line of business CIOs, to enhance the internal customer experience that enables our business partners to deliver

Overview:

Supports Enterprise Mainframe operations. Manages batch processing and files available service level agreements (SLAs) for numerous core applications. Manages recovery efforts for job failures. Participates in annual Disaster Recovery tests in multiple locations. Supports all mainframe and distributed platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor mainframe systems in multiple locations.
• Operate and monitor other business-specific systems.
• Ensure high quality processing is maintained and online availability schedules are met on various platforms.
• Coordinate shift turnover; communicate outstanding issues and upcoming changes to incoming staff.
• Review and approve all operational documentation for consistency and accuracy according to published standards.
• Ensure proper protocol, procedures, notifications and communications are followed during changes and incidents.
• Provide some advanced troubleshooting for job failures and amends of production jobs.
• Participate in assigned training and presentations.
• Cover staff shortages and assist with off-scheduled activities as required.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:Education and Experience Required:

High school diploma and a minimum of 2 years’ technology-related experience

Experience utilizing product command sets to debug and resolve problems

Experience using Department tools to increase overall efficiency

Full knowledge in pertinent scheduling software

Education and Experience Preferred:

Minimum of 5 years’ job-related experience

Knowledge of IBM mainframe operations

Knowledge of SDSF (System Display and Search Facility), TSO (Technical Standard Orders), CA7/CA11 (Computer Associates) and JCL (Job Control Language)

Working knowledge of pertinent mainframe systems and storage components associated with mainframe operations

Technical knowledge of CA7, CICS (Customer Information Control System) and JCL, as well as other utilities related to Z/OS operating system

Experience being a team player and interacting well with all levels of personnel

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $20.70 - $32.32 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
