About the Position.We are seeking a Project Accountant with strong experience in full-cycle construction project accounting to help support our growing portfolio of projects. In this role, you will be a key player in managing job costing, A/P, A/R, and ensuring all project financials are accurately tracked. You will work closely with project managers and other team members, all while contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
· Project Setup & Maintenance:
o Set up and maintain project budgets, contracts, and change orders to ensure accuracy and alignment with project goals.
o Manage subcontractor agreements, ensuring all necessary documentation (e.g., insurance, W9s, lien waivers) is up to date.
· Job Costing & Financial Management:
o Allocate costs accurately to correct cost codes and track project expenditures.
o Work alongside project managers to monitor budgets and job costs to ensure projects stay within financial parameters.
o Process subcontractor payment applications and confirm they meet all necessary documentation standards.
· A/P & A/R:
o Process and ensure timely payment of invoices
o Track accounts receivable and assist with collections to maintain cash flow.
o Prepare monthly AIA billing, including Cost Plus, GMP, and Unit Rate projects.
· Compliance & Documentation:
o Collect, track, and maintain all necessary project documentation, including insurance certificates and lien waivers.
· Reporting & Analysis:
o Generate monthly job cost reports and other financial reports, as requested.
o Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate reporting of project financials.
What you need.To be a hero in this role, the Project Accountant will have:
· 3+ years of construction project accounting experience with an Arizona-based General Contractor.
· Proficiency in Sage 300 CRE (required).
· Familiarity with TimberScan is a plus.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
· Strong understanding of job costing, financial reporting, and construction accounting principles.
· Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· Additional certifications or training in construction accounting is a plus.
· Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities.
· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high volume fast-paced environment.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
